The food pop-ups at Bison Beer in Hove are always amazing, so when I saw that there was a pie pop-up, I knew I HAD to go. Al thePieman is based in Polegate and sells his pies at markets and events in Brighton and in the surrounding areas. There was shortcrust, vegan and sweet pies on offer, plus homemade chutney.
I decided to try the Chicken, Chorizo and Pepper and the Smoked Haddock, Cheddar and Leek. Both came piping hot which was perfect as we decided to sit outside.
The Smoked Haddock, Cheddar and Leek was full of flavour and had lots of each filling in it. The fish was flakey and delicious and it was absolutely perfect combined with the cheese and leek.
The Chicken, Chorizo and Pepper which I LOVED. Chicken and chorizo is one of my absolute favourite flavour combinations, and this pie did not disappoint. The chorizo had a little kick and it went perfectly with the chicken and pepper.
We paid £12 for four pies which I thought was great value for money. We got chatting to another couple who told us that Al has a stall at the Lewes market, and I will definitely be hunting him down at the next event he is at!
