Alright… so it’s not in Brighton. BUT Tunbridge Wells isn’t far away so I thought I’d review it anyway!
My partner’s grandma was turning 70, and to celebrate we decided to go for afternoon tea at the Royal Wells hotel. I’ve never been for afternoon tea before so I was super excited!
We had the Ephraim Suite booked, with three big tables and a lovely Christmas tree. The room was bright and warm and was the perfect size for all the family to be together. They put a really cute sign up directing people to the room with a balloon saying happy birthday, which I thought was a great touch.
Afternoon tea started with prosecco and sandwiches. Although they tasted great, I did think there could have been more! Maybe I’m just greedy haha, but it was only a couple each.
Then, the best bit! Sweeeeeets. There were scones – queue a debate about pronunciation and which topping goes on first. I’m scone as in cone and cream then jam – the right way of course 😉
There were profiteroles followed by the most DELICIOUS decadent brownies and super sweet macaroons. Plus of course, endless cups of tea. I was absolutely stuffed by the time we had finished, and I really enjoyed tasting all the different bits.
I thought it was great value for money and a really lovely space to spend the afternoon with loved ones. If you’re looking for somewhere to have afternoon tea in Tunbridge Wells, I would thoroughly recommend the Royal Wells.
Ooh it all looks so lovely, especially the sweets! Happy 70th to your partner’s grandma!
